Wow. Last night's Rude Awakening gig was amazing. Huge thanks to everyone who turned up, as well as the bands and venue staff.
Next up we've got Army of Freshmen on 11th June, and let's make this as good as last night was! The Real Matt Jones is no longer playing, but we still have an awesome support line-up in the shape of Mike TV, Lost? and Spot!
Cheers,
Ian

Uprising is dead. Already.
Basically... in a nutshell... our first two headliners pulled out. Then all of our plans for the third event fell through. By "all of our plans" I mean a huge list of ideas and suggestions.
It's a shame, but we'll soldier on. I still have some Uprising badges if anyone wants one!
In positive news...
Tickets are selling well for the Sonic Boom Six/Big D gig. The UEA is sold out of their (small) allocation. Tickets are very much still available from the venue and from Soundclash Records. Or, if you want to order online, from Soundclash's website.
We're just finalising something pretty awesome for June... we'll keep you posted on that...
That'll do for now. Cheers.
Ian.

A Yay and a Nay
So yeah. Basically. Uprising is pretty fucked. For the second month in a row - i.e. the only two months so far - our headliners have pulled out a few days prior to the gig. So, with that being said, this Thursday will now be:
CRONE
BAD SALAD
WHAT HAPPENED TO ROBBIE
For the low, low price of £2 in. Just to remind, it's at the Queen Charlotte on Dereham Road.
So that's the nay.
And here's the yay.
Digital Readout Records is go. Have I mentioned DRR before? Basically, it's me running a new label. Mostly electro-based music. Mostly (for now) digital distribution. Our first release is the Connect EP by Haegl which is a free download!
www.digitalreadoutrecords.co.uk/connect
That's the link for the EP. Go to that page to download the RAR file containing all four high-quality MP3s and some images. Both me and Paul (Haegl) are very excited about this and hope to slowly build something here.
That'll do for now. Cheers.

Blog 4.0: Live Free or Blog Hard
(I thought I'd try and mix both the US and UK titles for the fourth Die Hard movie, just if you were wondering...)
Anyway...
I used to be MC iPod, I use the past tense as this past Thursday I played the last ever MC iPod gig. It went well. I messed up a bit, but no-one noticed. This does mean I am no longer a rapper with mad skeelzzz though.
As we speak, I am uploading some shitty quality photos from Uprising #1 to the Uprising Myspace profile. Speaking of Uprising, #2 looks like this:
THE DISPLAY TEAM
CRONE
32FRAMESPERSECOND (tbc)
BAD SALAD
And is on Thursday 3rd April at the Queen Charlotte, and will be awesome-o.
We've finally started to sort things for #3, which will be the Power Up/Jugsout May Day punk spectacular! Stay tuned...

Blog Harder With a Vengeance (yes, everything is always a Die Hard reference)
Lots of good things to discuss, which is good. Obviously.
Uprising #1 was awesome. Whilst it was a shame that JB Conspiracy had to pull out, all four bands played blinders. Lower The Tone were awesome, especially for a first gig (well, until Garrod fell off the stage...). Smaller Than You were as good as they always are. Cherry Blossom Melodies proved, again, why they're probably the best new band to come from Norwich in a long time. Crone were truly, truly awesome and played a definite headline-worthy set. So, with that being said, I hope you'll all join us for Uprising #2 on Thursday 3rd April (at our resident venue The Queen Charlotte, Dereham Road, Norwich) for The Display Team, Bad Salad and more tbc.
Rude Awakening tickets are now available! They are limited to 250 so act quickly as we really do expect this one to sell out. Sonic Boom Six, Big D and the Kids Table and Random Hand are all excellent bands with good followings so to have them all on the same line-up is, to put it bluntly, fucking fantastic. Tickets available from the UEA Box Office (UEA Campus, Norwich, 01603 508050), Soundclash Records (St Benedict's Street, Norwich), www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk and www.soundclash-records.co.uk.
I also want to congratulate our friends 32FramesPerSecond on signing with Punktastic Recordings. Punktastic is a good label run by good people, so I'm sure this will lead to good things for the 32FPS boys.
Also, I had a try-out for a band last night. You don't necessarily need to know this, but there you go. I will also keep you posted on how that goes!
That'll do for now. Guess what the next blog will be called... go on... guess...

(The Real) Blog 2: Blog Harder
So yeah, this sucks. With the days counting down to the launch of UPRISING, our inaugural headliners, The JB Conspiracy, have to pull out. In a word: shit.
So, the plan is currently this:
CRONE
SMALLER THAN YOU
CHERRY BLOSSOM MELODIES
LOWER THE TONE
Thursday 6th March, The Queen Charlotte, Dereham Road, Norwich
Doors: 8pm, reduced entry of £2.
Sorry it's not ideal. but it will still be a rad gig.
So yeah, anyway, my birthday gig was last week. It was fun. Thank you to those who came, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Thank you too to those who played.
That'll do for now.

Blog 2 (Because calling it "Blog 1" would have been far too obvious)
Hello. I have a blog. Go me. Expect a "what is Ian currently up to musically" type o' thing (i.e. nothing personal).
So, with that, what am I currently up to:
Uprising. Our attempt at a regular night. We really hope this works well and develops a name for itself, with people coming purely because they trust Uprising to provide them with good music. Will it work? Only time will tell.
Other than gigs, I am attempting to run a record label. Again. The Power Chord Label did okay to be fair, the compilations especially sold far, far more than I expected. So yeah, having knocked that on the head (who is really going to pay 79p for a Fletch Cadillac tune on iTunes, really?) I am attempting Digital Readout Records. Electro-type things with the assumption that kids that like electro are more likely to buy MP3s. Maybe.
That's enough for now, I'll save IWTP for another day...

- Power Up Promotions (attempt 400-or-so)
- Uprising
- Digital Readout Records
